Steam processing chamber
Modified insulated shipping container. Sealed thermal chamber with stainless steel liner, thermal insulation, and steam-resistant seals. Primary processing vessel.
Condensate and must recovery
Internal stainless tray captures steam condensate and released agave liquids during cooking — a recovery step unique to HottBox.
Multi-Port steam penetration
Upper, mid, and lower steam inlet ports. Multidirectional penetration geometry specifically configured for dense agave fibrous structures.
Double capture methodology
First-phase must capture during hydrolysis + second-phase mechanical extraction post-cook. Two recovery phases vs. one in all other methods.
Variable steam valve control
Regulates volume, flow rate, duration, chamber pressure, and thermal hydrolysis cycle. Tunable per varietal and batch conditions.
Post-cook properiatary fiber processing
Shredding → milling → integrated reduction optimized for post-steam agave fiber texture and sugar release.
Why This
Project Matters
Climate.
water.
economy.
three wins in one crop
Climate & Water Benefits
Agave: The drought-era crop
Naturally drought-tolerant and water-efficient · Reduces dependence on high-input crops · Aligns with California climate adaptation goals · Establishes agave as a viable California specialty crop · Minimal emissions, closed-loop steam processing · Low nuisance: no smoke, no open flame, no combustion, no carbon footprint
Economic Development
A new california farm-to-market chain
Creates a new agricultural value chain · Supports rural and regional economies · Connects growers to premium spirits market · Distinct California identity separate from tequila and mezcal Supports emerging craft distilling industry · New export and tourism opportunities
Everything A Distiller Needs To Know
-
Clean fermentation-ready agave juice, must (fiber + juice), and fiber, components offered separately. Each lot includes QC documentation.
-
Pricing is set per partner agreement.
-
No. California Agave Works can source the piñas, steam, mill, and deliver finished juice under contract. Or bring your own agave and we prepare it.
-
No volume minimum to express interest. Commitment begins with a non-binding letter of intent that reserves your place in the processing queue.
Why Now?
Opportunity Knocks.
first mover takes the market.
California agave cultivation is expanding. Distillers are actively seeking local supply. No scalable processing infrastructure exists. That is the opening.
Uncontested Position
First mover advantage in california
No scalable agave processing infrastructure exists in California today. HottBox occupies a first-mover position in an emerging, uncontested market.
Patent-Defensible IP
Proprietary. Protected. Defensible.
Multi-port steam penetration, double-capture recovery, and modular containerized design. Covered under patent specification. Patent pending.
Domestic Agave Ready
California-grown agave is ready now
California-grown and U.S.-grown agave will bring varietal diversity and new harvest timing. The HottBox process is adaptable across all those conditions.
The Market opportunity
a $15B category. a zero-infrastructure gap. one solution
$15B+
Global agave spirits market is growing at 8% CAGR with premium tier outpacing the category.
Zero
Scalable U.S. agave processing infastructure in operation today.
First
HottBox is the only patent-pending containerized U.S. steam system.
The Investor Insight
Agave spirits have become a global premium market and California is positioned to produce a regionally distinct product that is neither tequila nor mezcal. The infrastructure gap is not a weakness. It is the opportunity. The investor who funds the infrastructure captures the toll road.
The Business model
recurring Fees. Licensing upside. franchise-like model
Four Revenue Streams
recurring. scalable. compounding.
› Processing Fees
Per lb./ton and per-batch fees. Recurring revenue from every cook cycle run through any HottBox unit, owned or licensed
› Licensing
Territory licensing to operators, co-ops, and regional partners. HottBox owns the IP; licenses pay to operate the systems
› Distiller Contracts
Pre-committed purchase agreements. Recurring demand locked in before a second unit is built
› Grower Supply Agreements
Long-term contracts with California Agave cultivators. Secured Volume. Predictable feedstock, Margin on both ends.
The Scale Model
Build one. Validate. License Many.
One HottBox unit validates the process, documents the yield, and anchors the licensing model. Each licensed territory multiplies revenue without multiplying capital requirements proportionally.
Per Ton Output
Per ton ≈ 120 bottles
Each deliverable is a contained, high-value unit of juice with per-lot QC documentation supporting premium spirits produced. The model scales like a franchise — without the food court.
Defensible technology. Clear deployment path
Competitive Moat
Why this stays defensible
› Patent Pending
Multi-port steam penetration, double-capture recovery, and modular containerized design as a unified specification. First to file in this category.
› Technical Complexity
Requires integration of steam engineering, food-grade containment, and mechanical milling. It is an 18-36 month build for any competitor starting from scratch.
› Network Lock-in
Every grower contract deepens supply security. Every distiller agreement deepens demand. The network compounds and the first mover builds it permanently.
› Regulatory Advantage
California food-grade and air-quality compliant by design. Competitors face lengthy permitting cycles that HottBox has already navigated.
Use of Funds
What investment enables
› Pilot Unit Construction
Complete the first commercial HottBox — container, steam generator, size-reduction system, and liquid capture system. Fully integrated.
› Field Validation
Run initial steam cook demonstrations with contracted grower and distiller partners. Document Brix, yield, and must quality per lot.
› IP Prosecution
Patent prosecution to grant. Licensing framework. Supply agreement templates. Regulatory compliance documentation.
› Network Expansion
Expand the committed grower and distiller network in California. Build the order book before the second unit is constructed.
How we Anticipate in order to calculate
We need to test and know so you will as well: actual yield varies depending on the agave variety, sugar (Brix) content, cooking efficiency, fermentation, and distillation losses. Agave that shows high sugar readings in some fields, actual yield could exceed this benchmark if those sugars convert efficiently during fermentation and distillation.
This is a key metric to validate during the planned 6 HottBox pilot runs.
Standard Spirits Case
12 bottles per case
1 ton of agave piñas → 120 bottles
120 bottles ÷ 12 bottles per case = 10 cases
Production Estimate
1 ton of piñas = 120 bottles = 10 cases
HottBox Scale
Piñas Processed → Bottles → Cases
1 ton → 120 bottles → 10 cases
5 tons → 600 bottles → 50 cases
10 tons → 1,200 bottles → 100 cases
20 tons → 2,400 bottles → 200 cases
